News of a New Job and New Baby!

So, I had an interview this past Thursday at Ability and I got the job! I am going to be doing homehealth speech therapy beginning sometime in June after school ends. I'm so excited to be staring with a new company and actually have a salary instead of getting paid per hour. I'll also have two weeks vacation, two sick days, two personal days, and 5 paid holidays. I didn't have that before. I didn't even get a paid maternity leave. I can't wait to start with this company.

News about Cadence:
Cadence is 32 days old now. She is out of the NICU and home doing well. Her next appointment is for her two month visit. She is doing great. She's been eating well and gaining weight finally. Keira and Cadence are staying home right now with their babysitter, Ashlee. I decided to keep them out of daycare for a while so they can stay together and bond. I went back to work after being off for 4 weeks. I had the first 3 weeks off after having the baby. I will work until June 5th and then start at Ability soon after.

Baby Cadence

A lot has happened in the past couple weeks. I had baby Cadence on April 24, 2008 at 8:55pm. She was 6 lbs 10 oz and was 20 inches long. When she was about 6-7 days old, Keira got sick at home and we think Cadence caught whatever Keira had. Keira has an ear infection, runny nose, and cough. Unfortunately, if a newborn baby even gets a cold, that baby can go downhill very quickly if nothing is done right away. A baby could even die from it. It's crazy to think that a baby could die from catching a cold. But their immune system is pretty much non-existent at this point that it could happen. We are in the NICU at North Central Baptist Hospital right now. We have been here since 3:00pm yesterday. Before that, we were in the ER at North East Baptist Hospital from 10:00am-3:00pm that day. They had to transport her to the other hospital's NICU. The poor baby had a temp of 100.1 and wouldn't eat and was lathargic. She had to have tons of blood work done, a cath put in to get a urine sample, an i.v. put in her hand to pump her with fluids to rehydrate her, antibiotics in the i.v. to help get rid of whatever virus/infection she may have, and a spinal tap. They couldn't pull anything out of the spinal tap because she was so dehydrated, so they have to give her another one today. I'm so sad about that. They make the parents leave the room, but I could hear her screaming and crying all the way down the hallway. All I wanted to do was go in there and hold her hand. It was so hard. I can't imagine how bad that hurt for a newborn to endure. Thank God she's not old enough to remember it later. Please keep baby Cadence in your prayers and hopefully she will be out of the woods soon.
